Monitoring results of YOUnite pilot actions
The YOUnite project was developed to support disadvantaged, obese youth in improving their health and integration into the labour market. Obesity often leads to social stigma and discrimination, which affects not only health but also employability. Negative stereotypes, such as a perceived lack of self-control or motivation, can severely limit job opportunities for young people struggling with obesity.
To address this, the YOUnite program targets adolescents aged 15 to 24 with six structured modules: Medical, Nutrition, Sport, Stress Management, Awareness, and Employment. These modules focus on enhancing both physical and mental well-being while boosting participants’ confidence and preparedness for the job market.
Evaluation Methodology
The evaluation of the pilot program took place in Austria, Finland, Hungary, and Poland, using quantitative methods to assess the impact on participants. Two surveys were conducted with the participants: one before the training to capture their initial state, and another afterward to evaluate changes in areas such as self-confidence, body awareness, and health competence. Additionally, a follow-up survey was conducted with the trainers to gather their perspectives on the effectiveness of the program.
The surveys were designed in English and German and translated into the respective languages of the countries involved, ensuring consistency in data collection.
A total of 38 participants completed the first survey, with 31 completing the follow-up. Trainer feedback came from 13 trainers across the four countries.
